Cikini Craft Day (+ Random Haul)

Well, hello there.

I’ve been procrastinating on doing a post since Wednesday. Partly because I don’t know what to post and I was just too lazy to do review. I tried making myself a schedule on what to post and when, so for now I guess I will try to stick for the “Week in Recount Series” on Mondays, and hopefully I will soon post my reviews on schedule.
So, yesterday (Saturday) I went to Cikini Craft Day! My sis actually was the one who knew about this first, but then we decided we’d just go together along with my mom and youngest sister. The event was held at Kedai Tjikini. There was about 15 stalls there. I saw some people making socks plushie, so maybe there was some kind of workshop going on.
here’s one of the stalls (that’s my sis with red outer and stripey t-shirt)

Long story short, the stalls was quite interesting, some stalls were selling bags, jewelries, leather products, t-shirts, aromatherapy and goat milk products. I especially loves the aromatherapy stall and goat milk stall. The seller was nice and informative, I think it was the maker / crafter (?) themselves who waited at the stalls. I got  these :

am:scholar Solid aromatherapy in Rose Geranium — Rp 20.000,00

This is the solid aromatherapy from am:scholar aromatherapy stall. I had to say I was only attracted to the name at first, but turns out it smells great! So I had to buy it of course.

Moloka Farm Living Goat Milk Soap (Susu Kopi) — Rp 20.000,00

This is the goat milk soap I bought from Moloka Farm Living stall. This one has coffee in it. I have only tried natural soap from Green Mommy Shop before and I really liked the coffee mint one, so I decided to give this one a try!

This was priced Rp 20.000,00 for less than 100 gr. It’s quite expensive for a bar soap, but since it’s all nautral, i guess it’s worth the money. I haven’t tried this yet, but I will probably wrote a review if I like it!

That’s all for the crafty beauty haul, on to the random haul..
(warning : This might be boring for some of you, but I really wanna show this! So just close the tab if you’re bored or keep on reading if you’re still interested!)
I am a stationery addict. Ever since I was in elementary school, there’s always something about school supplies that makes me want to collect them. I used to collect mechanical pencil, but now I collect pens (especially jetstream (best ballpoint pen ever!) pens) and cute notebooks (I don’t even wrote notes that much). So here’s what I got on  my recent trips to some book and stationery stores :
Red pen is Zebra Surari 0.7 mm (the ink is actually black) bought at Gramedia
Purple pen is Uniball Jetstream 0.7 mm (purple ink!) bought at Gramedia
Lenguo Peacock Notebook (brown blank paper) bought at Scoop
Ibis Geometric Notebook bought at Intermedia

One other thing (not stationery) that I just bought and love so much :
Drawstring batik pouch from Batik Keris (they lots of other color and patterns if you’re interested)

This is probably the most random post I have ever made so far. I have no intention to brag about the things I purcashed, I just want to share the things that I recently bought and liked. I personally really like this kind of post on other people’s blog, because I like knowing where people buy things so I can buy it for myself if I like it.

So thank you for reading the post, I hope you enjoyed it, good night and have a good rest for tomorrow might be a busy day for you!

Favorite Beauty Blogger #1

Hello there 🙂

Here’s an attempt to make another series. In this series I will talk about some blogs that I follow (beauty blogs) and love. It’s always fun to share something that you like, right? Right! 😀

Today I want to share with you the first beauty blog that I discovered. And I would say that through this blog I learned a whole new world of beauty videos on YouTube.

It is Allison’s Blog!

click to visit her site!

Here’s the story,
A long time ago I know only one person on YouTube that channel’s revolve around beauty. It was Michelle Phan (I think I found her through her earlier channel called Rice Bunny). I believe that all you beauty nerds out there known her too. I don’t know how or why I found her on YouTube, but after some time I forgot about it.

It’s only after I found Allison’s blog ( that I got hooked on beauty world. She posts a lot of review (I actually found her when I looked for beauty product’s review), haul, NOTD, etc. What I like about her blog is that it is informative without being overwhelming, simple template, pretty pictures… How can I resist?

When I like a blog, I could spend hours and hours browsing through the pages. With such pretty pictures it almost feels like window shopping!

Who’s you favorite beauty blogger?
Do you know Amarixe? I you don’t I suggest you check her out!

A Week In Recount #1

Hi there!
I found that when a blog have series, it makes me wanna read it even more! Why? Well, because I feel like I would want to know the continuation of what happened before. What changed, what stayed the same. And so here I am trying to make a series for my own blog.

This one might not be as interesting for you than it is for me. But as some of you (if any) might know, this blog used to be my personal blog where I only wrote personal stories, thoughts and so on. So I want to continue doing that, but this time in a series called “A Week in Recount” where I just sort of briefly write the activities I did and things that happened in the past week. And since I’m not the kind to write diaries/journal I thought this series would be perfect to be a reminder for me to (maybe) reflect on things that I have done in the past.

So, on Monday, June 17th I was quite crazy with report. Yes, the report for the internship were I stayed for a month at the kind of village-y part of Depok. This report would then be presented in the class on Tuesday, June 18th.

Tuesday, June 18th. Report presentation. Sleepover at my friend’s rented room (kost) to kind of catch up with things in the past month (we weren’t in the same group during the internship). Too bad  only three of us could make it.

Wednesday, June 19th. Back from Depok, I was supposed to go check BM with my friend, but sadly it was closed and we were told to come tomorrow, so I went straight home.

Thursday, June 20th. My sis had a class so I had to stay home with my youngest sister and canceled going to BM (again) but turns out my friend went there and IT WAS CLOSED (again). They told us to come today but they’re closed. Again. Okay, go away from the list. I don’t want to take a course at an inconsistent place like that.

Friday, June 21st. MONSTERS UNIVERSITY’S OUT! We (Mom, my 2 sisters and I) went to watch it!~~~ And it was GOOD. All of you who haven’t watched it yet, go watch it. NOW!

Hello, I’m Monsters University student!

Saturday, June 22nd. Went to Plaza Senayan with my family. I wanted to go there because I wanted to check Bunka’s Sewing Book. I found it, but it was far too expensive so I didn’t get it (yet, I hope I will buy it someday). Bought these instead :

Despicable Me toy from McD, a bias binding maker bought at Kinokuniya Craft Bazaar

Sunday, June 23rd. Accompanying my friend to buy Happy Meal at McD just because she wanted the toy. How childish are we?! Haha!

That’s how my week in recount. Hope you enjoyed reading it, Happy Monday!

What I’ve Been Eyeing | Korres Lip Butter

Hello there!
I was about to make another review/first impression post, but I haven’t been able to take a decent picture to be put on my blog due to gloomy weather and busy mornings.

Lately I have been intently reading essiebutton’s blog which I found through her YouTube channel. I have been following her YouTube channel for quite sometime, but I have just started watching her videos these past few weeks, and I have absolutely been enjoying it! So, I saw her featuring this Korres Lip Butter in some or her blog posts and I noticed that she had quite a few of them.

And being a tinted lip balm addict, I got curious. I remember this particular lip butter sold in Luxola and so I went and check the web right away. Then I went on and look for reviews. Most people said that they’re really good as lip butters. Some said that the color doesn’t really show, but I don’t mind. I really, really want to get my hands on this! But I just don’t know how 😦

Here’s some pic of Korres Lip Butter in the shades that I’m lusting over :

Korres Lip Butter in Quince (picture taken from Korres Website)
Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate (picture taken from Korres Website)
Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose (picture taken from Korres Website)

Here’s the problem. Luxola does ship to Indonesia (and free shipping too!), but I have to pay using credit cards, which as a student with no income, I don’t have. So I have to cross this option out.

I found other site that sell this, which is Strawberrynet but I have zero experience buying from the site, and it seems like the site is only Google translated into Indonesian which makes it like a fake, not reliable website. I don’t mean to accuse the site as fake, I’m just spilling my worries here. So if any of you have had good experience buying from the site, please, please let me know so I can get my hands on the Korres Lip Butter soon!

Until next time!

Good news! Now that accept payment via Mandiri Bank Transfer and even Indomaret, we Indonesian can easily buy anything from Luxola! I’m saving up some money to buy from there collectively (so I can get free shipping :p)!

REVIEW | Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel

Hi there!
Here’s my review on Nature Repubic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel

5W + 1H about the product :

What is it?
Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel is a…Gel. Okay, I’m being unhelpful here.. So as I read on other beauty blogs, this gel is supposed to be some kind of multipurpose gel. You can use it for your hair, your face and body, you can use it as face moisturizer, body moisturizer, primer, aftershave, to soothe your skin after being under the sun all day, etc.

Here’s the tub
Plastic protective cap

Clear Gel

It’s clear, have a watery texture
blends and sinks right in

As you can see, it is a clear gel. You get 300 ml of product in this plastic jar. It has a screw on lid with a plastic protective cap. Now, I don’t really like the container, I don’t like jar containers in general, simply because it’s not hygienic. I’m gonna have to be honest here, I’m slouchy. I never seem to remember to wash my hands before I do something. I do wash my hands before I eat, but that’s a different story. What I mean is I never seem to remember to use clean fingers when I apply products to my skin, especially my face area. And since this is a multipurpose product, I hate the container more. I’m gonna use this for my arms and legs, even if I cleansed my hands before I touch the product, I’m gonna need to dip my fingers back into the gel after I touch my arms or legs when I’m trying to get more of the products. So of course my arms and legs are not as clean as my face. If I wear shorts and sit on the floor or on the carpet, my legs will surely pick up some dirt. And the dirt may transfer from my cleansed finger into the product after I touch my legs and I dip back my fingers in it. Next time I use the product for my face, I may as well put the dirt into my face.

Well I might be overthinking this, but I think I’m gonna go buy another container with pump dispenser just to make sure I only touch the product I’m gonna use and the rest is safe from any bacteria that my hand my contain.

Why did I buy it? Why was I interested in buying it?
I saw a review on a beauty blog (I can’t remember whose blog was that) about this product. A multipurpose gel? I get drawn into it right away. And it being soothing… might as well work as an aftershave for my legs. So off I go into the search of the product! Even before this product become officially available in Indonesia, people have been buying it from the online store. And they say, after Nature Republic opened up their first store, it turns out the Aloe soothing gel was way cheaper in the counter than in those online stores. Well I imagine this is because the gel is 300 ml. It can get expensive for the shipping from Korea to Indonesia for quite a heavy product. So I decided even if it’s easier to get my hand on the product if I buy it on the online store, I would only buy this if I found it in Nature Republic’s counter.

Where did I buy it?
Here’s a story. One day on the month of… maybe February or March. One of my friend said that she’d go ice skating with her boyfriend at Mal Taman Anggrek. I rarely went to MTA just because it’s so far away from my house. I knew that there’s a Nature Republic counter there, so I had to ask her to buy the Aloe gel for me. And I was so glad she said yes. But then it turns out that the Aloe gel was sold out and will be available next month. I was disappointed and I forgot about it until I went to Plaza Indonesia last Saturday. I was on the escalator when I noticed that a counter sell Belif skincare that I never knew available in Indonesia. When I was up on the (I forgot what) floor I saw that Nature Republic was on the same counter as Belif! I get a little bit too excited and decided to buy the Aloe Soothing Gel. Oh and it was on sale for IDR 59.000! I think the price went up, because it used to be priced at IDR 59.000 even without discount, but then I think I saw it’s original price was around IDR 90.000.

When did I buy it?
I bought this on Saturday, June 8th 2013.

How did it work?
I have tried using this gel for face moisturiser, body moisturiser, aftershave gel, hair moisturiser. As for face moisturiser, I find this isn’t the most moisturising products for me. And I have quite a dry skin so I prefer creamy moisturiser. And I found that this gel contains alcohol so I’m afraid that it would make my skin even drier on the long run. However, I really enjoy using this as body moisturiser and aftershave gel. I use this especially on my legs because I shave my legs regularly and this does wonder on soothing the newly shaved legs. The gel feels cool and refreshing and could really make me stop scratching my itchy legs. I also don’t really like putting this gel on my hair just because I feel like it makes my hair even drier.

Okay, I think that’s all. I hope you enjoyed reading this! 😀

VanityTrove June Edition – Summer Days

Hello all! So here’s me fulfilling the promise I made a few days ago 😀
I decided to do this first. I don’t know what I should call this.. This isn’t exactly a review, not unboxing (because I’ve received and open this like two weeks ago) or a haul either.. But what I’m gonna do is I will tell you my experience in buying the box and I’m gonna show you all the things I got in my June Edition of VanityTrove and maybe give a review or first impression for some of the things I’ve tried.

The June Edition that I got was the second beauty box from VanityTrove available in Indonesia. Some of you might wonder what is this VanityTrove that I’m talking about?

Basically, VanityTrove provides a monthly beauty box subscription. You will get random products for each month that you subscribe. I don’t quite understand on what basis the product will be given out to you. I mean, when I join the site, I don’t remember filling in any preferences or such things. I do remember filling in my beauty profile (like what skin color I am, what is my current skin condition, what color is my eyes, etc.) but that doesn’t cover the things that I would prefer to get in my box if you understand what I mean. Like I didn’t get to choose whether I prefer to get skincare rather than make up or haircare or such things.

So let’s jump right in, here’s the box….

Just a plain white box with “VANITYTROVE Beautiful Surprises” neatly written on it. On the bottom side (bottom side? I don’t know what to call it) you can see a pink ribbon peeking on the first pic, and you can see on the second pic that there’s a pink drawer inside the white box! So you use the pink ribbon to pull out the drawer….
Open up the box and here’s all the things that I got :
1. VT Booklet & Brochures from the freatured products

Back row, left to right :
  • Booklet from VT containing information of the products featured on the box. (What I like about this booklet is that inside, it states the price of the full size products!)
  • Masami Shouko brochure
  • Essentials brochure
  • Another Masami Shouko brochure
  • Skin Junkie Card

Front row, left to right :

  • Brow Studio Voucher
  • another Skin Junkie rounded card (?)

2. Essentials Jasmine Cananga Salt Bath (2 sachet)

The brochures says“Pamper yourself skin with Jasmine Cananga Salt Bath. The soothing and refreshing scent helps skin rejuvenation, reduces cold & flu, rheumatism, acne, and muscle pain.”

This one smells nice, but I haven’t got to try this so I don’t know whether it lives up to it’s promises or not, but I’m excited to try this!
3. Lancôme Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector and Lancôme Visionnaire Correcting Polishing Cream
The brochure says :
“More than wrinkle-corrector, this product is capable of fundamentally re-creating more beautiful skin. On the surface, wrinkles and pores are visibly corrected. Imperfections like signs of UV damage and acne marks appear diminished.” (Lancôme Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector)
“Visionnaire Correcting Polishing Cream helps correct the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while reducing the appearances of pores. The cream retexturises the skin and polishes away any imperfections to reveal a refined smooth skin” (Lancôme Visionnaire Correcting Polishing Cream)
These two products seems to be marketed for older skin.. But I tried it anyway. And since these are skincare, I cannot really review how it makes my skin like by just using 5 ml sample size. I can only comment on the scent, which is nice. And the way it makes my face feels right after I put this on. Well, I’m 20, I don’t have any wrinkles or fine lines (yet). And my skin is.. a little oily on the T-zone but the rest of my face are on the drier side. So when I used the Skin Corrector and the Correcting Cream, it makes my face feels… well, soft and supple. I can’t feel any dry patches and my cheeks are just so nice to touch. The Advanced Skin Corrector has the consistency of a serum which sinks right in after application, and The Correcting Polishing Cream has the consistency of a.. well cream. Not the heaviest kind of cream, almost light, but not as light as a  lotion would be. This kind of stays on my face and will make me shiny when I’m not using any powder afterwards.
Will I buy these in the full size?
Well, no. First of, it’s marketed for older skin. Secondly, it has quite a hefty price tag that I, as a student without income cannot justify buying it.
4. Estée Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Full Spectrum Brightening UV Protector SPF50/PA+++
The brochure says “Estée Lauder highest-level UVA/UVB shiled helps to protect against sun exposure — a primary cause of spot formation. This fast-absorbing, broad spectrum UVA/UVB shield with powerful anti-oxidants, ensures a brighter, flawess future for your skin”

What a long name it has. What it is, is actually a UV protector with added benefits to brighten your complexion and light up dull skin. I have tried this too and, I can only say that this is really a fast absorbing UV protector. Not in any way greasy at all.
Will I buy these in the full size?
No, because it’s pricey and I don’t really wear sunscreen much (I don’t know if this is bad or not, because while sunscreen protects you from sun exposure, I heard that it also contains ingredients that are not so healthy for your skin)
5. Wink and Kiss Premium False Lashes
The brochure says “A Fine Touch To Perfection, Made of 100% Sterilized Real Hair”
I have not, and will not try this. Why? First of it’s because I don’t wear false lashes when I go out. Secondly, well this is more of personal reason and preferences, I am told that as a moslem I can not wear or use real hair in a form of hair extension or false lashes or anything. So, I might just give this to a friend of mine.
6. Masami Shouko White Velour Puff with Handle
The brochure says “A powder puff with special material to pick up and hold powder for an even application of loose powder/compact powder. Available in 2 stylish colors : black puff with black fabric and white puff with black fabric”
I also have not tried this simply because I have not feel the need to change my current facial sponge that I use for face powder.
7. Skin Junkie Bonbon Babe Bar Soap
The brochure says “Craves for Honey some sweets? Bonbon Babe, natural sweet barsoap. With a sprinkles of fresh oatmeal that will exfoliates your skin gently”
This is a honey oatmeal soap bar. I have not tried this but I’m really excited to! This smells reaaallly really nice! I once ordered an oatmeal soap from another brand and I liked it. So I hope I will like this too! 😀
8. Lancôme HYPNÔSE Doll Eyes Mascara
The brochure says “The secret behind doll lashes, finally revealed! Lancôme’s most flirtatious lash look. The secret behind this amazing result? A new, unique, cone shaped brush provides an extremely smooth and clean application, precisely defining even your hard to reach corners and lower lashes. Lift and thickens every single lash without weighing it down. Push up your lashes for your most flirty, wide open eye look”

I have tried this. But sadly it’s not waterproof. I can not wear a non waterproof mascara because I need to kinda wet my face when I do ablution during the day. So I prefer my mascara to be waterproof so it doesn’t wear off and smudge all over my face.
So that’s all of the things that I got in my VanityTrove June Box, I hope you all enjoy reading the post, and Happy Friday!

Where I’ve Been

So…. I’ve never been a good blogger….

Lately I’ve been craving to write something, sharing with anyone who could be reading this, and thinking that I might start writing themed post. You know, like those people whose blog is dedicated for a theme, like their hobbies or interests.

I thought about moving somewhere else to write, like make new blog or something. But then I think, since my blog name is “Neverending Life Stories”, maybe I should just write here, so in the future, I myself can reflect on things I used to do, remember moments I might forget, and you (if any) who read this blog might know me better from what I wrote then and what I’m writing now. Kind of watching me grew from a silly highschool girl, into a (hopefully) mature woman who knows what I want to be in life.

So, here’s a little update on what I’ve been up to, where I’ve been. Kind of a recount on what have happened this couple months :

1. First of, I’m so sad that my cat Momo died today :”( I don’t really know what happened to him, but my Mom think it might be because he ate a mouse that was poisoned to death. He used to be a stray cat roaming around my sister’s school. One day my sister wanted to have a cat, so after a few observations, she and My mom decided to took him home. He wasn’t quite a kitten when my sis took him, he was like, maybe 6-8 months old, not so tiny and cute, but he got a very warm attitude towards human. He liked to be cuddled, follow us around, and he never once meowing like crazy, wanting to get out of the house like any other stray cats usually did. He even loved to sleep on the couch and bed (this one is absolutely forbidden since he’s still a stray cat (we’d let him out every time we go out, so he wouldn’t be locked alone inside an empty house) so he’s dirty and I’m allergic to cat’s fur). And what I loved the most about him is that he always come back when we get home. Sometimes when we didn’t let him in, he would just wait outside on the porch. And the funny thing about him, he learned to sit when he’s scolded. Like when he jump up on a table, we’d scold him and he wouldn’t get down, instead he sit still on the table……
I can’t say enough about him, I liked him a lot and might even loved him. So here’s some photos of Momo :

sleeping on the couch, taken 3 days ago

Momo and me, he didn’t know he was being photo-ed. 11 days ago.

Some hours before he finally let out his last breath 😥

Rest in Peace, Momo. I will miss you a lot 😦
2. These past years, I have been loving crafts. Last year or the year before I started to learn how to crochet and I have been collecting quite a bunch of threads, mostly local (imported ones are very expensive here). The only problems with crochet is it takes a long time and a big patience to finish even a small poject. And I’m not exactly the patient type. So I would go and make a project, then I’m tired or bored, and I would go make another one and never finish the first one. This goes until I have about 6-7 uncomplete projects. Oh and my back hurts a lot when I crochet. So then around the end of April or the beginning of May this year, I read some sewing blogs, and it inspires me A LOT. Like I wanna make something right away. And I did. I made my sister a pencil case, a pair of shorts and a top, a cushion cover, and some simple pouches. I’m gonna write this more on another post that I should not forget to write.
3. Lately I have been so keen on make up and beauty world. I don’t really remember how it started but I think it was because I was looking a review for a certain product, then I got hooked when I found Amarixe’s Blog and found out that she makes beauty videos. Then I started looking at other beauty guru’s videos and finally here I am kind of addicted to makeup and beauty world. I know there’s a community here called Indonesian Beauty Blogger, but I don’t think I would be qualified to be a member anytime soon. I would like to start writing reviews on some products though, because I found that reviews are very helpful for those who want to buy something but not sure about the quality of the products. I’m gonna need a better than my phone camera to  pick on the closest to original colors for swatches and stuff, so maybe these reviews will come out later, infrequent and sporadically depending on whether or not I have a product to be reviewed.
4. Last May I have an assignment to stay on a kind of village-y (?) part of Depok. I was supposed to stay for about a month with some friends in a group that I’m not actually close to. We are assigned to do both 10 group and personal counseling/ person in our group while we were there. So my group had to do the total of 40 group counseling and 40 personal counseling (there were 4 of us in the group). I thought that would be so horrible and scary and boring thing to do, but I was actually quite a good experience (although once in a lifetime is enough for me), but I was glad that it finally pass. Now come the nightmare : THE REPORT.
So…. more update on what I’ve been up to will (hopefully) come up on a few days, a week tops. I need to get my report done tonight.
Good night, hope you all have a good day tomorrow 🙂
