Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm Hunt

I have to admit that I’m addicted to lip balm. I don’t have overly chapped lips but I’m obsessed with having a smooth nourished lips. And since I seemed to have developed allergic reaction to my past HG lip balm which is Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, I am on the hunt of a new HG lip balm. I initially wanted to get Korres Lip Butter, but then…. I discover Estée from Essiebutton (yes, yes I admit I am her fan) raving about this Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm. Me being myself, I got interested right away and started to look up for reviews.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm (image from

I’m really intrigued by the consistency of this particular lip balm. Estée and other reviewers said that this lip balm has kind of gritty consistency (thick and sort of sugary if that makes sense) and although matte, isn’t very suitable to put under lipstick. Estée and most of other reviewers also agree that this lip balm is very nourishing and will stay put on your lips throughout the night (they recommend using this before bed).

The only problem with this lip balm is that it contains beeswax. I’m afraid that this is the ingredients that I’m allergic of in the Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. I’ve looked online for people that have similar allergic reaction and some says that it might be the propolis that get mixed up in the Beeswax that caused allergic reaction whereas the beeswax itself very rarely cause allergy.

After knowing this, I’m kind of hesitant but still really interested to try this lip balm, so I contacted (the only store I know that carries the brand Nuxe) and asked about the availability of this lip balm (they didn’t have it in stock on the website). Their customer service was very helpful and willing to order it for me. I asked about the price and was quite shocked that it’s retailed for 32 SGD (It’s only £9.50 in the UK!). I told them that I think I’ll have to pass on this lip balm for now because it’s way too expesive for me, and they said it’s okay and I could definitely contacted them anytime if I ever want to buy it some other time! That’s what I call excellent customer sevice!

So.. even though it’s nice to know that Luxola have a very nice customer service, I’m pretty sad that still haven’t got my hands on this lip balm 😦

I do know that it’s available on, but I’m not sure about the shipping (usually very expensive to Indonesia) and I don’t have any paypal account so.. What do you think? Should I just get the Korres Lip Butter or should I keep trying to get this Nuxe Rêve de Miel? Let me know in the comment below, and have a good day!

Reading Recommendation #1

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (image from wikipedia)

Well, hello there. You might be wondering why am I making a post about reading recommendation? Isn’t this a beauty blog? Well, the answer is no. I don’t know what will be the future of this blog, but for now I want to write and share with you what I can share. So if I feel like writing reviews for beauty products, I will. And if I want to write reviews for book, so be it.

And today I want to share my thoughts on my recent reads (well, not so recent) which is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

I like this book. This book might fall into young-adult category with romance genre. I would say that this book is more of an easy read. The story is about two teenagers, Hazel and Augustus. Hazel, the main character fell in love with a boy she met at a cancer support group. Hazel had thyroid cancer that spread to her lung but manageable by a fictional drug named Phalanxifor. The boy, Augustus Waters, was in remission from osteosarcoma or bone cancer.

The story started when Hazel first met Augustus in a cancer support group. Augustus was accompanying his friend Isaac at the time. They were attracted to each other and continue to grow their relationship despite the fact that their days are numbered. Hazel had this favorite writer Peter Van Houten who wrote a book she liked so much called An Imperial Affliction. She shared her love for the book with Augustus until he gave his Wish eligibility for Hazel to be able to meet Peter Van Houten. The ending was a bit unexpected and not so exciting for me, but it’s a good book nevertheless.

That was a crappy summary of the book, but I don’t want to spoil the book by giving a full summary.

What I like the most about this book is how John Green wrote it. The story and the sentences are just… flowing. I found that there are so many sentences that I could quote from this book. I mean, for me, not every book has a quotable part, and this book has a lot. Go to this site if you’re interested to learn more about the quoted part of this book.

Here are my 2 personal favorite quote :

“The world is not a wish-granting factory”

“Some infinities are bigger than other infinities”

After reading this book I was quite impressed that I feel the need to search for other John Green’s book. So far I’ve read An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns. I don’t like both books as much as The Fault in Our Stars, but they were still an enjoyable book to read.

If haven’t read this book yeat and you’re up to reading something easy, definitely get this book!

Nowadays I prefer reading books using my tablet just because I can easily bring a lot of books because it’s an app! It doesn’t make my bag any heavier, haha. I’m the kind of person who gets bored of reading one book (unless it’s very interesting), so a lot of the time I switch between books even though I haven’t finish reading the first one. And I only read when I’m in the mood for it.

The thing about printed books are, I’m kind of sensitive about it. When it comes to a book that I love, I want to keep its appearance as good as new, so when I want to bring it somewhere I will be thinking about the damages I could make to the book. I don’t like folding the corner of the page to mark the part I’m currently reading (because it will leave a crease on the paper) and I seem to always lose my bookmarks, so finding the page I’m reading on a printed book can be troublesome especially because I’m a slow reader and I tend to leave the book for some days before I pick it up again.

If you’re like me and you prefer reading digital books, here’s some links to buy the digital version of the books I mentioned above :
The Fault in Our Stars (kindle) / (iBooks)
An Abundance of Katherines (kindle) / (iBooks)
Paper Towns (kindle) / (iBooks)

How about you? Do you prefer reading from your tablet or you’re printed-book-kind-of-person? Let me know in the comment below!

What I’ve Been Eyeing #2 | Real Techniques Brushes

Lately I have been seeing a lot of beauty gurus rave about Real Technique brush. I mean I have known that they have these brushes since long ago, but I don’t know if it’s just me or they’re really just raving it and really using it now? I think it’s just me.

Actually I have bought one, the Expert Face Brush. And I really loved it. That’s why I’ve been wanting to try more. As a newbie in the make up world, I don’t have a lot of brushes. To be completely honest, I only own two by now. Both are face or foundation brushes. Brushes are quite an investment because it lasts you ages. I mean, better buy a good quality brush to be used for years than buying a cheap one that hair will fall out in a matter of time, right?

So here’s the brush (yes, ONE brush at a time) that I want

Real Techniques Stippling Brush (image from Real Techniques website)

I’ve been wanting to get blush brush for some time now, and Estee (yes that Estee) said that this is great for applying both cream and powder blush.

Real Techniques makes some great and affordable make up brushes, so head over to Amazon (link on the picture caption above) or their website if you’re interested to buy one!

See you in the next post!

Random Ramble

I guess I just want to share my frustration with you. You may be wondering why would I want to share my frustration?

Because THIS is what frustrates me :

print screen of luxola website. Everything in it belongs to

You see that red circle there? Yes, now accepts payment via bank transfer. This is actually a very good news. I’ve been eyeing some stuff there but never got around to buy it because I don’t have credit card and can’t really ask my parents to buy me things I wanna buy there. Now that they accept payment via bank transfer, I can actually buy something like Korres Lip Butter that I’ve been eyeing since last month (read this post).

The problem is…………………….. I’ve been spending quite a lot of money lately and decided to have “spending ban”. Haha, I lied. I’m not on spending ban whatsoever. I just don’t have money to spend right now. And I am the kind of person who just can’t wait to get my hands on something that I want. That’s what frustrates me the most, haha silly I know.

Oh and Luxola provides free shipping to Indonesia for orders above Rp 315.000,00 (Shipping rate is Rp 95.000,00 for orders under Rp 315.000,00). So I suggest you collect things you wanna buy and buy it at once, because Rp 95.000,00 is quite a lot of money for shipping fee and I’d rather spend it on products, agree?

So, now that I’ve shared my frustration, go ahead and buy something from if you :

  1. Don’t have credit card and have been eyeing some things from there
  2. Have some money to spend
Little update about my blog : I’m trying to remove the empty space between my blog title and my posts but have not figured out how, so please bear with it 🙂

Favorite Sewing Blog #1

I like beauty, but that’s not all the layers in me. I also love craft. Especially sewing and crochet. I’m not in anyway expert on that field, so I found myself looking for tutorials from sewing blogs all the time. There are lots and lots of sewing blogs available on the internet. Not each and every one of them is good, but when they do, they’s very very helpful for beginner sewist like me.

So I thought I would share with you some of my favorite sewing blog!

Here’s one of my favorite sewing blog :
picture screen-captured from Tilly’s website. Everything in it belongs to her. Click to visit her site!
It’s Tilly from
I first found her when I was looking for sewing tutorial. As you can see from the screen capture above, Tilly has a section in her blog named “Learn To Sew”. Believe me, that section is really really helpful. She insert clear pictures in her tutorials which is very important because it can be difficult, frustrating even when you’re trying to imagine a written sewing instruction without picture! Aside from the very helpful tutorial, I also adore her website layout. It’s very… simple.
Tilly here was a contestant in a TV show sewing competition called “The Great British Sewing Bee”. She has not spent a very long time in the sewing world, but she sure is very passionate about sewing!
I don’t know what else to say about this amazing sewing blog, so just head over there and look around her website!
See you later!

Favorite Beauty Blogger #3 (plus random talk)

Hello there, it’s midnight here but I can’t sleep and I got this idea for a blog post, so I tought I’d just do it right now!

So, I haven’t been writing this series in a while. I think I’m gonna let the Week in Recount series die, but I’ll try and keep this series alive because I do have some people that I follow on Bloglovin and have been quite enjoying ther posts.

Today’s post is about……

Fleur from fleurdeforce!
If you haven’t know yet, just like Allison and Estée, Fleur have a YouTube channel and she has tons of subscibers (of course I’m one of them). I do enjoy watching her videos, but sometimes it’s hard for me to catch what she’s talking because she’s British and I have a poor listening skill, haha. So, I really like that she has a blog that she updates regularly..

Here’s a sneak peak on how her blog looks like :

disclaimer : this is just a printscreen of her blog, all images and writing is Fleur’s. Click to go to her blog!

She has nice reviews for various products and good quality pictures and swatches, what more could I ask for? So, go ahead and click on the link above to go visit her blog!

I just found out when I was watching Fleur’s Home Haul, that this

IKEA Hemnes Daybed (picture taken form IKEA website)

Is called a DAYBED. So, what’s with that?

I have been wanting this kind of bed for a loooooooooooong time. And all along I thought this is just a regular bed, but turns out, this can be used for lounging (like how you use a couch) and sleeping.

Okay I’m being hyperbolic here. But really, I WANT this kind of daybed. I’m kind of obsessed with pillow(s) or cushion and if I have one of this I surely will put lots and lots of pillows and or cushions on it.

Look what this particular daybed can do! (picture from IKEA website)
(picture from IKEA website)

This is just…. beautiful.

I hope I can have one of this one day.

See you in the next post!

Review | Green Mommy Rainforest Natural Soaps & Shampoo Bar (Coffee Mint & Cacao)

Coffee Mint Soap 100gr, Rp 20.000,00
Cacao Soap 100gr, Rp 22.000,00

Green Mommy Rainforest Cacao Soap Bar

Hi there! Today I have these soap bars I want to review. They are Green Mommy Rainforest Soap Bar in Coffee Mint and Cacao. Green Mommy is an Indonesian brand that focuses on natural products. Rainforest (used to be Eco-Care) is the skin care range of Green Mommy.

This is actually the second time I have ever ordered these soap bars. The first one I ordered Coffee Mint, cinnamon oats, and nut soap. Of those three I really liked the Coffee Mint one and I decided to repurchase it and add the Cacao to try.

Deasi, the owner of Green Mommy is very concerned about the sustainability of the earth, and her take on making the world a better place is by making an all natural range of products. Matter of fact, she doesn’t only make skin care, she also makes or sells organic spices, food, cleaner, herbal tea, organic loofah, bamboo towel, and even reusable menstrual pad. I really do admire her vision and her work she put into it.

Usually the problem with natural or organic products is : IT’S EXPENSIVE. But say, if you can get a good quality all natural products at a reasonable price, would you replace your conventional product with it? I WOULD.

And Green Mommy is a place to go if you want reasonable priced natural products. I cannot say anything about the products other than the Rainforest range (especially soap), but I think if you’re interested, you should just give it a try! Why pay lots of money for imported products if you can buy a local product that’s might just be as good? So if this post gets you curious, just head over to Green Mommy website!

Let’s move on to the review!

First things first, this soap does not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or detergent or artificial foaming agent. For some of you that doesn’t know about SLS, it’s a bad thing to put on your body. Does it lather? YES. I don’t really know how, but apparently when you mix some oils, it lathers. I noticed that the foam this soap made is different from the foam of any SLS based soap. This soap creates a softer, more delicate foam if that make sense. When you’re using SLS based soap, you might notice that it creates a lot of foam, and the foam doesn’t really go away until you rinse it with water. Even sometimes the foam doesn’t disappear, it only moves from your body to the floor of your shower. With this soap, it lathers just enough that you don’t end up using way too much products and it disappears (maybe sinks in to your skin? I don’t really know) even before you rinse your body, and after you rinse, your body feels squeaky clean. Not too squeaky that you feel tight, but squeaky enough that you feel that it really cleanse your skin.

Secondly, this soap bar is multipurpose. You can use it on your face, your body, and your hair. I only use it for my body because it makes my face feel tight, and God knows I have wavy frizzy hair that can only be tamed by using a proper shampoo and conditioner and regular hair mask. I honestly have only tried this once for my hair, but I just can’t stand when my hair is big and frizzy and tangled. And if youre using this soap bar on your hair, it will take longer for the hair to completely dry. And I have a lot of hair that take a long time to dry, so when I use this, it gets even longer for my hair to dry. And I don’t like blowdrying my hair.

I’m gonna talk a little about shampoo. Shampoo has silicone in it that helps detangle your hair. This is considered bad for your hair and the earth so some people decided to go Shampoo free (they call it poo-free) or change their regular shampoo into natural shampoo. Some people who doesn’t use shampoo at all, just wash their hair with water (usually everyday). They said that no matter what kind of hair you have, you will experience bad hair days (tangled especially) for the first few weeks of being shampoo free before you finally notice that your hair has gotten smoother, silkier or a lot better in general. So, if you’re ready to go shampoo free but doesn’t want to use no shampoo at all, I think this soap could be a good replacement for your nasty chemical shampoo.

Enough about shampoo, let’s get going to the review of each kind of soap. The Coffee Mint one is very scrubby because of the coffee powder. This soap gives a serious exfoliation. In fact, I feel like the soap itself exfoliates better than any sponge/loofah/bath gloves I have ever tried. So I suggest you use your favorite sponge/loofah/bath gloves if you think the scrub is too harsh or you don’t really want to scrub your skin. This soap smells just like coffee. I personally cannot distinguish the minty smell (definitely doesn’t feel minty or cooling on the skin). But this soap is very good to get rid of body odor because of the coffee scent.

The Cacao soap does not have any scrubs in it. I like to use this soap with my bath gloves for daily exfoliation. I feel like this one moisturise a bit better than the Coffee Mint Soap. And it also lathers better. Maybe it’s because this soap doesn’t have any scrubs. It smells like… I don’t know. There’s a hint of cacao, but mostly it smells like oil (I’m bad at describing scent). I also like this one a lot.

I guess that’s all I can say about these two little guys. Quite a long post we have here, I hope that’s helpful. I’ll see you in the next post!
