The combination of running out of day to day necessities (mostly hair products) and rewarding myself for finishing the final paper for my undergraduate study resulted in some product purchases these past few weeks.
First up is TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray. I’ve been looking for this for literally a year (I think) since I first seen its ad on a magazine somewhere. So far this is the only drugstore heat protection spray that I know of. I don’t use a lot of heat on my hair (nearly never), but I’m so curious I just had to buy it! The plus side is, since this one comes from the Keratin Smooth range, it acts as a detangler! My hair is seriously smoother every time I take the time to spray this on my hair after washing my hair.
Next two hair products are Head and Shoulders Itchy Scalp Care Shampoo and Sunsilk Frizz and Weather Defense Conditioner. The shampoo is to address my itchy scalp (pretty self explanatory, huh?) but what I didn’t read on the packaging was that it’s supposed to help with itchiness due to dandruff. I honestly don’t have dandruff problem, but this shampoo is cooling on the scalp, so it’s nice. The conditioner was not exceptional. Mainly because I think it’s too runny. This is in no way an expensive conditioner, but for hair like mine (I have A LOT of hair), I think this won’t last more than 10 uses. However, when combined with the TRESemmé spray, my hair was seriously frizz free for like 5 days? Thumbs Up!
My Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder was broken because it fell of my hands when I was using it (I haven’t ever mentioned it in a blog post and it’s broken already), so on my first trip to Sephora Indonesia, I bought the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder in 53. I have to say I much prefer this Bourjois powder than the Rimmel stay matte! I hate to say that the powder is very finely milled, but I don’t know how else to phrase it. The powder is softer than the rimmel one, and this does have color, so it adds a tiny little bit of coverage.
Next are something I don’t really need but I’m curious and it’s not that expensive so I just bought it kind of thing. It’s NYX Retractable Eyeliner in Silky Cashmere and NYC bronzer in Sunny. The eyeliner color is like nude-y with a shimmer and it adds a little something something when used on the waterline. I don’t think it “opens up” the eye though. The bronzer is a much hyped product back in like maybe last year or something, I only ever seen fair skinned (mostly caucasian) people use it, so I had no idea whether it will work for me or not. I’ve tried using it a few times, but I just have not found the best way to use it.
A couple things from my last wishlist made it to this recent purchases. They are the Crabtree and Evelyn Gardener Hand Therapy and Cath Kidston Zip Pouch. The zip pouch was smaller than I expected, but I like it and it was on sale so I decided to just get it. I use it to store small beauty bits that I carry around in my bag. The hand cream, or as the name suggest, the hand therapy was very pleasant. It smells nice, warm and kind of cinnamon-y and sinks in very fast! You can definitely feel something on your hand for the next 5 minutes or so, but it’s not sticky and after that I usually forget I had something in my hand. I bought the travel size, so it’s very compact and can be easily brought everywhere.
This one isn’t exactly a recent purchases, because it received it back on June I think, but I never mentioned this before so I thought why not? It’s the Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm and yes I’ve been resisting this ridiculously expensive lip balm but I finally caved because my friend was going to France and I will certainly get it cheaper there. I got it for just under IDR 200.000 (US$20) which is a good deal!
The last but certainly not least is Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in Beige 3. This is the one thing I said I bought to reward myself for finishing my final paper in time! I originally wanted Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage 12-H Foundation, but since Sephora hadn’t stocked it yet, I looked for alternative. The Skin Foundation have a light to medium coverage and dewy finish. The formula is very very comfortable on the skin, it feels like nothing more than a moisturizer is sitting on top of your skin. It’s slightly sticky but nothing a powder can’t handle. So far I’m loving it, but I haven’t had a chance to try using it for a whole day and more, so I’ll update with a detailed review later!
Overall I’m happy with most of my recent purchases! I have no intention on bragging, merely a way to share my thoughts or first impressions of the products I recently bought. I hope you’re all having a nice day & I’ll see you on the next post!
